As a part of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, APM Terminals Pipavav has initiated the “Pashu Uday” project with a vision to increase the population of productive livestock through integrated livestock development, capacity building of the livestock owners and awareness about career options in livestock management among school students in 30 villages around the port.
Livestock plays an important role in the economic development of families in rural India and leads to women empowerment as they are intensely involved in livestock management and their day-to-day upkeep. Livestock products are an important and sustainable source of income for the villagers. Therefore, given that the contribution of livestock is immense in the life of villagers, “Pashu Uday” aims to increase the population of productive livestock, enhance productivity of existing livestock, create awareness related to scientific management, artificial insemination for better breed, livestock insurance, medical support and community fodder development, etc. The project also intends to promote awareness about career options related to livestock amongst the youth, said a release.
Mr Keld Pedersen, Managing Director, APM Terminals Pipavav, said, “We are committed to enhance the lives of the communities around us. Our CSR projects are driven by us directly to ensure that money spent on various projects create maximum impact on our community. Each and every rupee ends up where it is needed. We are happy to be a part of “Pashu Uday” project which aims to provide sustained source of income to the villagers.”
