Luxury Cruise liner M.V. BOUDDICA of the Fred Olsen Cruise Lines, carrying 522 foreign guests a majority of whom are from the United Kingdom and 388 crew members arrived at Mormugao Port on 11 October morning from Mumbai Port.
According to a media statement from the port authorities, this is the second cruise ship to arrive in Goa during the current cruise tourism season which commenced on 10 September 2018. The officials of the Department of Tourism, Government of Goa, were present at the cruise berth terminal to receive the guests and they were given a warm and traditional Goan welcome. Goan folk dances, and music with a live brass band was in attendance at the cruise terminal.
The cruise liner is scheduled for an overnight stay at the port during which time the visiting guests will explore the scenic beauty of Goa and patronize the commercial outlets, experience Goan cuisine and visit the famous tourists’ locations in North and South Goa. This is the first cruise ship this season which is having an overnight halt at the port and this will augur well for accruing higher economic benefits to the tourism sector including the tourists taxi and luxury coach operators.
All the visiting guests and crew were issued with eLanding Cards by the Indian Bureau of Immigration from the Immigration counters set up at the cruise berth terminal. The travel arrangements for the local sightseeing tours are being handled by M/s. Trail Blazer India, and the M/s. J.M. Baxi & Co., Goa, are the Shipping Agents for the cruise vessels who will carrying out all the logistics and shipping related matters.
The Port authorities have extended all the necessary logistical support to the cruise ship and the Port CISF personnel are providing round the clock security cover to the visiting cruise liner for its safe and memorable overnight stay in the port. The vessel will sail to Cochin port at 19.00 hours on 12th Oct 2018, after a night’s stay in the port
